Sustainability Ambassadors
Summer 2026
The Sustainability Ambassadors recently took part in a special recycling workshop led by the Tower Hamlets School Recycling Engagement Team, where they developed a deeper understanding of waste and its impact on the environment. During the session, they explored which materials can and cannot be recycled, and learned how contamination can prevent whole batches of recycling from being processed effectively. As part of the workshop, the ambassadors put their creativity to use by designing their own badges! Well done to the team for promoting recycling awareness and encourage others in the school community to adopt more sustainable habits.

Spring 2026
Our Sustainability Ambassadors have had an incredibly successful and inspiring year so far. We are thrilled to
share that they won the Climate Warriors category in the prestigious Roots & Shoots competition for their innovative paper-making project. The team collected used paper from around the school and transformed it into beautiful, handmade recycled paper, raising awareness about waste reduction and the importance of reusing resources. Their hard work, creativity, and commitment to protecting the environment truly impressed the judges and demonstrated the powerful impact young people can have when they take action.
Building on this success, our ambassadors have also launched “Function Junction”, a whole-school initiative designed to promote recycling and encourage everyone to think more carefully about what they throw away. We are all working to make recycling simple, accessible, and part of everyday school life in Thomas Buxton. Looking ahead, we have an exciting range of sustainability projects planned for classes later in the year, giving even more students the opportunity to get involved, learn about environmental responsibility and contribute to making our school community greener and more sustainable.
